The Beginning Of A Great Journey...Hope to Inspire Many!

In the USA, Women's Triple Jump is merely a small speck on the wall. If Track & Field is mentioned, Triple Jump is certainly not the first event that comes to one's mind. Since the beginning of its time, in 1986, all but the American jumpers seem to dominate this unorthodox event.

The Task:
Mastering the Women's Triple Jump. Performing at a distance equal to or greater than 15 meters (49'2"). There are few rules that must be adhered to: Distance must be acheived in an IAAF/USA sanctioned meet before or during the 2012 Olympic Games, and absolutely no cheating of any kind...you know what I mean.

The Competitor:
Full-time, wife/Olympic training athlete, odd-job worker by day, exhausted by night, too focused for a major social life, no children yet. Shakeema Welsch, a determined competitor eager to make history! Unlike Julie Powell, I have much to gain and nothing to lose! Anyone want to join me?

Inspiration: "Julie&Julia", The movie

How far will I jump?

Will an American female ever reach the 15 meter barrier? Only time will tell.

The countdown begins... 944 days and ticking!

Let's GO!
